Sylvia Chu is both Taiwanese pianist and piano professor. After completing her music degree in Taiwan, she continued her studies at the Madrid Royal Conservatoire under the tutorage of professor F. Puchol. Later, she went on to study at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, where her teachers included M. Soma and G. Mounier. She also studied vocal accompaniment with H. Cartier-Bresson at the Boulogne-Billancourt CNR.
Her concert schedule has seen her appearance internationally both as chamber music performer and soloist. Apart from her concert giving career, she established a successful teaching practice, with frequent invitations to give masterclasses both in Taiwan and abroad. She often participates in international conferences for musical performance studies.
Her discography includes several vocal albums as accompanist and two volumes of French repertoire for four hands. She is the author of two academic books: "A Study of Domenico Scarlatti's Sonatas", "Manuel Falla's Night in the Gardens of Spain."
She often accepts invitations to be a juror on the panel of international piano competitions. Currently, She is a piano professor at the Chinese Culture University in Taiwan.
